TFCC
The TFCC (Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex) is a group of tissues located in the wrist that provides stability and support to the joint. Common causes of TFCC injury include wrist trauma, overuse or repetitive motions, and degenerative conditions. Movements that typically cause strain to the TFCC include repetitive wrist movements, excessive wrist twisting, and excessive wrist loading. Symptoms of a TFCC injury can include pain in the wrist, swelling, weakness, and a clicking or popping sensation in the joint.
To avoid further strain on the TFCC, it’s recommended to avoid activities that put excessive stress on the wrist and to limit repetitive motions. Here are five corrective exercises to rehabilitate a TFCC injury:
- Wrist Flexor Stretch: Stretch your wrist by holding your hand palm up and gently pulling your hand down towards your wrist.
- Wrist Extensor Stretch: Hold your hand palm down and gently pull your hand towards your wrist.
- Grip Strengthening: Use a hand grip strengthener to strengthen your wrist and hand muscles.
- Wrist Extension Exercise: Hold a light weight with your palm facing down and extend your wrist upwards.
- Wrist Flexion Exercise: Hold a light weight with your palm facing up and flex your wrist downwards.
