Movement Therapy Services
There are so many conditions that people don’t even realize Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, and a wellness practice like PhysioActive can help with. Just recently, we were able to help a gentleman with urinary retention. We help babies latch onto their mothers, we resolve vertigo and dizziness, and we help people recover from stroke and surgery. We also help people with abdominal pain, chest pain, headaches, and migraines. Our patients often remark that they wish they had known earlier that therapy could help them as much as it has.
Our Assessment:
The key to success is always an accurate and thorough assessment. Our therapists will be able to determine if the PhysioActive approach can help your condition or if more imaging, testing, or medical referrals are necessary. No matter which service you attend, or which professional is assessing and treating you, we focus on achieving your desired outcome and goals.
We will assess your condition and explain exactly what is going on. We will also do a full-body assessment that looks at the quality of your tissue, how you move, your overall balance, muscle function, flexibility, and overall strength. Understanding how you move is essential for an accurate and effective treatment.
Our Treatment:
All of our treatment plans are directed toward your desired outcome and goals. Whether it be weight loss, correction of morning stiffness, injury prevention, high performance, balance, and coordination, or simply wanting to garden better, sit longer, or take ownership of your health by starting a new workout routine, your therapist at PhysioActive will help you get there.
Our Technology
At PhysioActive, we incorporate the most up-to-date and evidence-based healing technologies to complement your hands-on therapy. Our therapists will use laser, electrotherapy, PEMF, or magnetic biostimulation, as well as the Game Ready ice and compression system to speed up your healing, reduce your pain more efficiently, and get you back to what you love sooner. PhysioActive uses various energies—sound, light, electricity, shockwave therapy, technology, apps, video feedback, motion analysis, heat, or cold—to enhance your rehabilitation experience. Technology complements the hands-on therapy, education, and exercise programs that form the foundation of your physiotherapy experience.

Personal Training, Movement Therapy, & Exercise Programs
Exercise is a major component of any physiotherapy program and is the best way for you to see benefits more quickly as well as to help sustain those results over time.
Your physiotherapist will tailor an exercise plan to fit your goals while taking into consideration your abilities and schedule at the time. A comprehensive gym allows for a more successful transition from patient to graduate.
If you would like us to recommend someone in the community, we work closely with the nationally recognized “Trainer of the Trainers” Mauro Orrico. He has been featured on City-TV, CTV, and teaches across the country.
To book a physiotherapy appointment tailored to personal training, mat, pilates, and reformer exercises kindly call our office and we’d be pleased to schedule an appointment.
Braces and Supports
We offer a wide range of ready-made and relatively inexpensive supports/braces that may benefit your specific situation. Your therapist will let you know if a suitable support is available to help you function more effectively.
In the event that a more complicated/custom brace is required e.g. post surgery, we can arrange to refer you to a qualified orthotist/technician or have them come directly to the clinic in order to fit you.
Ergonomics Education / Advice
Ergonomics is the study of how your body interacts with your environment when you perform a task or activity. It often involves arranging your environment and the mechanics of how you do a task or activity. When your workstation is set up properly, you may be less likely to have problems such as headaches or eye strain, possibly reduce neck and back pain, and perhaps prevent conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome that can be related to repetitive activities. Whether or not your workstation is causing physical problems, a workstation that is properly set up can increase your productivity and quality of work life.
How Can I Prevent Injuries?
To prevent work-related injuries, it is important to position the work so that you can sit comfortably and minimize stress on any specific area of your body, vary your positions and tasks, and match tools to your size and preferences. There are many exercises and stretches that you can do during the day to also help by giving your body a needed break from repetition. Speaking to your Physiotherapist is the best way to find out which exercises are best for you!
As part of our ergonomic assessment, we will advise you on how to properly modify your environment (e.g., setting up your workstation) to minimize any stresses placed on your body during your daily activities. Thomas Hein, one of our physiotherapists, has been trained under the internationally recognized Matheson system and brings with him over 10 years of ergonomic consultation experience with former clients such as the Hong Kong Bank of Canada, North York General Hospital, Sears and the BBC.
