Rehabilitation and Healing Technology
PhysioActive utilizes the most up-to-date technology to enhance our clients’ healing and optimize outcomes. It is our goal to enhance healing using technologies and modalities that reduce swelling and pain, promote circulation and thus speed healing. Technology is never used as the sole treatment but rather is used in addition to manual therapy, exercise, and education. Most modalities use biological energy (light, magnetic or electromagnetic, vibration, or electrical) to reduce pain and inflammation, and maximize cell health and recovery.
Laser and Light Therapy
Light has been shown to assist in wound healing and speeds up tissue repair so you can heal faster.
We have several cold lasers at Physioactive that we employ to improve your recovery. Most famous is the Bioflex laser quotedLight therapy or laser therapy transmits photonic energy from your cells. Your cells use this energy to repair more quickly, reduce inflammation, and restore health. It is extremely useful in wound healing
Magnetic Biostimulation (MBS) and Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency (PEMF)
This spectacular machine combines magnetic therapy and pulses with varying electromagnetic frequencies that stimulate cellular repair. This is one of the only devices that can penetrate deeply into the bone and other soft tissues that normally don’t respond to other technologies (eg. light can only penetrate so far). By vibrating your cells at a particular frequency this modality is able to improve coherence, bring energy to the cells and promote recovery of your healing tissues.
Shockwave or Radial Shockwave (RSW) or Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
Shockwave works when traditional rehabilitation isn’t working. It can stimulate new blood vessels and start the repair process of even the most chronic conditions.
Shockwave or extracorporeal shockwave therapy uses a to transmit an energetic wave into your healing tissue. This modality is primarily used for very chronic and non-healing or recalcitrant tissues and bone spurs. It was originally used and most effective for chronic plantar fasciitis. It is now being employed for other chronic tendon conditions such as patellar tendinosis, Achilles tendinitis, tennis elbow, and other chronic conditions. It is also showing some evidence for ligament repair.
Integrated Listening Systems (iLS)
Physioactive is always trying to do it’s best for its clients. With a state of the art concussion rehabilitation program, we introduced the integrated listening systems device to help improve neural recovery.
By stimulating the brain and its most primitive system the vestibular system, we are able to relax the nervous system (called neuro-relaxation). This enables the nervous system to learn and repair with our specific brain rehabilitation and body exercises. This system vibrates the cranium and vestibular system at specific frequencies while also stimulating the auditory senses.
It has been historically used in the treatment of autistic children and either hyperactive or poorly coherent nervous systems. At Physioactive, we use this for anyone with balance disorders, concussion, vertigo, neural plasticity challenges. Most recently we have had great success treating toe walkers and other adolescent motor dysfunctions. It uses the vibration of the hearing bones, as well as modulated frequencies of skull vibration to retrain the vestibular system and ultimately the nervous system.
Game Ready Cold Therapy and Compression
Our Game Ready unit is recommended for postoperative care. It uses the combination of intermittent compression graded intermittent compression as well as ice therapy to quickly and effectively remove swelling from any body part. We use this most frequently with our post-operative or acutely injured knees and ankles to effectively and rapidly remove the swelling from their joints and legs.
This unit can be rented for post-operative care.
Vibration and percussive therapy.
Early evidence is showing that vibration can improve the coherence of the nervous system, improve fluidic flow that being lymph, venous drainage, as well as arterial blood supply, to improve range of motion, reduce pain and inflammation.
