Why Choose Us?
At PhysioActive Orthopaedic & Sports Injury Centre, our focus is on your specific needs. Our staff have advanced skills in assessment and treatment and you will receive ample one-on-one time with your therapist. We don’t use assistants or aides so all your treatments are provided by your professional. Our therapists are often able to discover underlying causes of your symptoms that other clinics have missed. We specialize in complicated cases, but are proud of our success in the treatment of all injuries.
We book a full hour for your initial physiotherapy, osteopathic or massage consultation and only 2 patients per hour for physiotherapy follow up appointments in order to tailor treatment to your specific situation and to make sure that all your questions are answered.
All of our therapists are committed to continued post-graduate education to speed your recovery. Some of our therapists are involved in teaching and mentoring at the post-graduate level.
Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
Please note that some Extended Heath Providers may require that a doctor’s referral be submitted prior to payment being issued. You should contact your insurance company with any inquiries or verify your benefit book. It is always in your best interest to check your personal plan details prior to booking an appointment.
Should any further medical investigations be required, your therapists will be sure to refer you back to your family physician
How long are my appointments?
Most follow-up treatments that you will require after the initial consultation are scheduled for 30 minutes, but you may be at the clinic for longer. The use of modalities (such as laser, ultrasound, magnetic biostimulation, paraffin wax, acupuncture, hot/cold therapy) and use of gym equipment are all services that may keep you at the clinic a little longer than your scheduled 30-minutes (up to an hour). We pride ourselves in offering a premium service, which is why we only schedule a maximum of two patients an hour and do not use assistants, students or volunteers. You can be assured that your 30-minute follow-up will be one-on-one with your registered therapist.
Should you desire/require longer appointments, you also have the option of scheduling 45-minute or 60-minute appointments.
Osteopathic manual therapy appointments are standard 60-minute in length.
Massage therapy appointments can be scheduled based on your needs, or insurance coverage. We offer 30-minute, 45-minute, 60-minute, 75-minute and 90-minute appointments. Our Registered Massage Therapists usually recommend that the first scheduling be 60-minute to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of your issues, aches and pains in order to properly treat you.
How are the clinic’s services covered?
If you were involved in a recent motor vehicle accident, your initial physiotherapy assessment and treatment will automatically be covered by your motor vehicle insurance (up to a specified pre-approved amount). However, your extended health insurance provider must be billed prior to Physioactive receiving any monies from your motor vehicle insurer. Please contact the physiotherapy clinic if you have any inquiries relating to a car accident.
Health insurance provided by our provincial government (OHIP) does not cover the cost of our services.
Furthermore, Physioactive does not bill WSIB directly. Your adjudicator may be able to offer you partial reimbursement for expenses incurred following a work related injury. It is best to verify if this is a possibility prior to making an appointment.
What are my payment options?
Physioactive endeavors to make your experience at our facility as seamless as possible. We provide direct electronic billing options where available. Currently we can directly bill Greenshield and Blue Cross for all of our services, Great-West Life for physiotherapy and registered massage therapy, as well as Sun Life for physiotherapy only.
If we are unable to bill your insurer directly, Physioactive will provide you a professional receipt with all the required information you will need to efficiently submit to your health plan in order to recover your expenses.
